According to the latest telecom subscriber data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Reliance Jio, the digital service provider of choice in Odisha, has further strengthened its market leadership by adding more than 74,000 new mobile subscribers and over 8,000 wireline subscribers in December.
Notably, Reliance Jio is the only service provider to have added new subscribers during the month, while all other providers including Airtel, BSNL, and VI have seen a loss in thousands of subscribers.
Reliance Jio has been consistently adding the highest number of mobile and wireline subscribers, reinforcing its top position in the state with more than 1.39 crore mobile subscribers and over 1.91 lakh JioFiber subscribers.
As per the TRAI report, the service provider added 74,581 new mobile subscribers in December, while other service providers suffered a considerable loss. Due to strong subscriber addition by Jio, the overall mobile subscriber base in Odisha saw an increase of 54,489 during the same month.
Jio has long been the most preferred mobile service provider in Odisha, with the highest market share in terms of the number of subscribers as well as the highest revenue market share in the state. Moreover, Jio has also made significant progress in expanding its True 5G footprint across Odisha, with True 5G services now available in 13 cities, including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, and Puri.
Jio has also strengthened its leadership position in the home and enterprise broadband segment in Odisha by rapidly expanding JioFiber high-speed broadband services to over 37 cities and towns across the state.
In December, Jio added more than 17 lakh new mobile subscribers across the country, consolidating its leadership position in the wireline segment as the largest wireline service provider, with nearly 3 lakh new wireline subscribers added during the month. In October, Reliance Jio became the number one service provider in the wireline segment in Odisha, replacing BSNL from the top position.
