The smartest city Bhubaneswar will have a smart bus transport system soon to cater to the need of the demand of the increasing population of the city. The Odisha government is planning to develop the system after taking inputs from experts.
The experts attending a workshop on ‘Smart Mobility Solutions in Bhubaneswar’ jointly organized by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Smart City Company (BSCL) here on Thursday emphasized on strengthening of the transportation system in the city.
BDA vice-chairman Krishan Kumar said the BMC undertook a massive citizen connect programme along with a series of consultations in which more than three lakh people put forth their opinion and suggestions on making of the smart city. Urban transport was one of the important points they have mentioned.
State chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said the transport system is one realistic solution for mass transport and mobility in Bhubaneswar. “It is a heritage city and a tourist destination. It is fast emerging as an educational hub of the eastern region of the country. So the city needs a smart public transport system,” he added.
