The Bhagyadeep Calendar, widely embraced in various regions of Odisha, serves as both an Odia calendar and panjika. Crafted and curated by the esteemed Pandit Sri Krushna Prasad Khadiratna, the Bhagyadeep press calendar has been an integral part of Odisha's cultural landscape for 85 years.
Notably, it has been the preferred choice for scheduling activities at the Sri Jagannath Temple. The data for this calendar is meticulously sourced from the Bhagyadeep press panjika, contributing to its accuracy and reliability.
Similar to the widely used Gregorian calendar, the Bhagyadeep Odia calendar is organized into twelve months, namely Baisakha, Jyestha, Ashadha, Srabana, Bhadraba, Aswina, Kartika, Margasira, Pausha, Magha, Phalguna, and Chaitra. Aligning with the structure of the Western or Gregorian calendar, the Bhagyadeep Odia calendar acknowledges six seasons: Grishma (summer), Barsha (monsoon), Sharada (autumn), Hemanta (pre-winter), Shita (winter), and Basanta (spring).
