Jharana Das Life, Career And Biography

Jharana Das commenced her career in the 1960s as a child artist and announcer at All India Radio, Cuttack. In this role, she created creative content spanning drama, song, and film. Additionally, she served as an assistant station director at Doordarshan in Cuttack.

Times Now highlighted that Das "opted for a career in the movies during a time when few ventured down that path." The report also mentioned that she faced opposition from her family in pursuing this calling. 

Eventually, her brother, who served in the Indian Air Force, managed to persuade their family to support Jharana's decision. She had undergone voice culture training in Kolkata, which likely contributed to her performance in films.

Jharana Das Death

Jharana Das passed away at her residence in Cuttack on December 2, 2022. Her demise was acknowledged by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed sorrow over her death and announced that her last rites would be conducted with full state honors. 

In a statement, Patnaik mentioned, "Her impactful performance on stage and film will always be remembered. May her soul rest in peace, and my condolences to the bereaved family."

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also extended condolences upon Das's demise.
