The Odisha Economic Survey 2022-23, presented in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, forecasts that the state's economy will grow by 7.8% in real terms in 2022-23, compared to 7% at the national level, as per advance estimates. The survey examines the performance of the state's economy and significant developmental initiatives.
The survey indicates that the growth outlook for the state is generally positive, with the economy expected to grow between 8% and 8.5% in real terms in 2023-24. Currently, Odisha's per capita income is INR 1,50,676, and the compound annual growth rate of its per capita income during 2011-12 to 2022-23 (AE) is 10.9%, which is higher than the national average.
Moreover, the survey highlights that the state's inflation rate is lower than the national average. It indicates that the average monthly inflation in Odisha during 2022-23 (April-Dec) is 6.56%, which is lower than the All-India rate of 6.81% during the corresponding period.
The report attributes this success to a well-targeted and effective public distribution system that focuses on food grains and the mid-day meal scheme, along with efficient supply management practices.
