The House was informed by the Steel and Mines Minister, Prafulla Mallik, that Keonjhar district's Dimirimunda, Kushakala, Gotipur, and Gopur areas, Mayurbhanj district's Joshipur, Suriaguda, Ruansila, Dhushura hill, and Deogarh district's Adas area contain deposits of gold.
During a session in the State Assembly today, Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallik revealed that gold reserves have been discovered in three districts of Odisha. In response to a question raised by Dhenkanal MLA Sudhir Kumar Samal, the Minister stated that gold ores were found in different locations in Keonjhar, Deogarh, and Mayurbhanj districts by the state Directorate of Mines and Geological Survey of India (GSI).
In Keonjhar district, gold mines have been detected in several areas such as Gopur, Gatipur, Kushkala, and Dimirimunda. Similarly, the precious metal has been found in Yashipur, Suriyaguda, Ruansil, and Dhusura hills of Mayurbhanj district. Furthermore, the Minister informed that gold mines have also been discovered in the Adas area of Deogarh.
Earlier, it was reported that a gold mine was present in Keonjhar, after which the survey work had started. The Minister stated, "The State Mines and Geology Directorate through a preliminary survey have found gold reserves at various places in Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar districts. Details of the discovery have been furnished in Annexure-A."
