Rohi Machcha Patropoda is a fish marinated in masala, wrapped in banana leaf, then fried till soft and flaky for a few minutes. It's a kind of oil-free healthy recipe that goes well with hot steamed rice.
Ingredients for Rohi Machcha Patropoda
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 tsp garlic
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 2-3 whole dry red chilies
- 1 Whole fish
- 2 tsp masala
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp green chilies, chopped
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 7 curry leaves
- coriander leaves, chopped
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 tbsp mustard oil
How to Make Rohi Machcha Patropoda
- Grinde the ginger, garlic, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and entire red chilies in a blender.
- Cut the fish into little pieces after cleaning it.
- Mix thoroughly with the prepared masala, salt, green chilies, turmeric, curry leaves, coriander leaves, onions, and mustard oil. Allow this to marinate for a while.
- Wrap a banana leaf around the marinated fish and secure it with a thread.
- Place the sealed banana on a lump of coal for 15-25 minutes.
- At 15 minutes intervals turn the leaf to the other side and cook it again for more than 10 minutes. Switch off the flame and serve hot with rice.
