It is mandatory to wear a mask from 7 a.m. on April 9, 2020. When leaving the house, cover each person's face and nose with a mask. Instead of masks, two-layer handkerchiefs, towels, and blankets can be used. After this Odisha has become the first state in the country to make a face mask or use of cloth in "at least two layers" mandatory for the citizens when they come out of home for any purpose.

"The general public is directed to cover their mouth and nose with any available form of the mask while stepping out of the house for any purpose. A handkerchief or any other piece of cloth in at least two layers can also be used for the purpose, until further orders," read an official order from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Odisha, on Monday.

Apart from this, the Odisha government has asked district municipal to not allow any cluster formation and also ensure the use of masks or clothes including handkerchiefs, bandanas, gamuchha, dupatta, etc. by public venturing out of their houses.
