Methi Leaf Rice Odia Cooking Recipe

Methi leaf rice is one of the very decent food recipes and good with every veg and nonveg curry. This dish is prepared in Odia style and prepared by Miss Lizy Jena, One of our readers. This dish is very tasty and you can also eat anytime.

Methi Leaf Rice Odia Cooking Recipe

Ingredients for making Methi Leaf Rice:

  • Rice 1 cup
  • Methi Leaf 1 bunch (Should be cleaned)
  • Green chilies 4 pieces
  • Capsicum 1 medium size chopped
  • Onion 1 medium size chopped
  • Methi seeds 1 tsp
  • Refined oil
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Salt (As per the taste)

Ingredients for making Methi Leaf Rice:

  1. Take a deep pan and cook the rice, extract into another pot and let them dry.
  2. Take another pan and heat some refined oil. 
  3. Add methi seeds and the green chilies into it.
  4. When they start spluttering, add sliced onion, capsicum and cook for a few minutes.
  5. Then add methi leaves, turmeric powder, and salt. Fry for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Then add cooked rice and mix gently.
  7. Wait for 1 minute.
  8. Now your Methi Rice is ready to eat.
  9. Serve with potatoes curry or chicken curry.

Some Suggestion to make Methi Leaf Rice:


  • For better results half boil the rice.
  • Chilies and methi seed should be cook for very few seconds (Should not be burnt).
  • Any curry is good to serve with this dish.
  • Use cold rice for a better experience (You can put the rice into the fridge for 2 hours)
