In a commendable feat, Soumya Sweta Behera, a visually impaired student secured 89 percent in the annual High School Certificate (HSC) examination, results of which were announced on Monday.
She was studying at the Bhima Bhoi Drustihina Vidyalaya here. Except for History and Geography, she has secured above 90 percent in all the subjects. Soumya has proved that strong willpower can overcome all the difficulties.

Though Soumya hails from Talabastar in Banki, now she is living in Rangamatia. She was born blind for the corneal dermoid problem. Soumya, who has been visually impaired from birth was studying in Braille script and listing audios.
Though she is visually disabled, the 14-year-old girl can also explain the 18 chapters of the Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta. She has the aim to study law in future. She will also prepare for the civil service examination. Soumya’s father Asim Kumar Behera and mother Mandakini Behera are now are now proud of her success.
